Cenote Chikin Ha

Cenote Chikin Ha is located 20 miutes from Playa del Carmen and just before the Kantun Chi park. It has all the amenities for your comfort and safety and is part of the All Tour Native jungle tour with zip-line circuit.

Cenote Chikin Ha is the first in a serie of several cenotes or sinkholes, connected through more than ten kilometers of underwater cave passages.

During your cavern tour, passing through the halocline (fresh and salt water layer), you will certainly (ask your guide) to surface in cenote Xochacalico (Rainbow Cenote), a beautiful scene in the middle of the jungle where all trees and plants are trying to reach the precious fresh water of the cenote.

Is it a cave dive or a cavern dive at Cenote Chikin Ha?

During the briefing you will be explained the limits of one to another. In brief, the cavern diving ends where the cave diving begins. It is all due to the distance you are from the entrance, the natural sunlight and the depth. Make sure to ask the question to your guide if you feel you are not sure!

There is no silly questions, specialy when you are about to dive underground!! Your guide is a Full Cave certified, it meens that he or she dives regularly in caves and has the training, equipement and the mind to do it. It is why in any cenote dive, you must be guided by a fully ceritified guide who will go througha very interesting briefing, so pay attention!

Can I take Cavern Diver training at cenote Chikin Ha?

All the cenotes are unique, not all of them offer the right conditions for cavern diver training. A great effort of conservation is in place here in the Mayan Riviera and must be followed by the next generations of divers.

Chikin Ha is a recognised as a training cenote as it offers a variety of passages where divers do not risk for themselves and are not going to damage thousands of years old speleotherms.

Some others are NOT training cenotes.

Ask your guide about conservation and if where you are going to train is a recognise cenote training site.
