Cenote Tajma Ha

The Cenote Tajma Ha has a lot to offer, for both, cavern and cave divers. It is located south of Puerto Aventuras and twenty five minutes ride from Playa del Carmen.

Once set with the entrance fees, it is a long ride through the jungle (approx 10') to reach the car park and kitting up tables.

It is always recommended to dive with a certified guide who holds 'Full Cave' certification and equipement.

As a cavern diver your dive will start either by the laser beam room (lights effects) or directly through the sections called 'Sugar Bowl'. In the first part, a lot of formations are visible either on the cavern floor, such as the 'Leaning Tower of Pisa' or hanging since the dawn of time along the walls. In the 'Sugar Bowl' section you will take the time to find seashell and coral fosils. As you may know, the Yucatan peninsula was once a reef!!

Tajma Ha Survey Project

For the last six month Alan and myself have been conducting a re-survey of the cave system of Tajma Ha. It is a huge project that we are sharing on our blog we definitely had to create in order to report our daily dives and survey progression. So follow us on www.cavesurveymexico.com and ask questions or leave comments, it helps us find new topics to talk about!

How deep is the dive at cenote Tajma Ha?

At the water entry you can stand, then there is a slight sloap that takes you progressively to 15m (50 feet) the deepest part of your dive at cenote Tajma Ha. It is a serie of ups and downs along passages full of fallen stalagtites or other broken speleotherms.

And your dive should last between 35 to 50 minutes, depending your air consomption as well as your buddy's. On some tour, depending on divers experience you can stay underwater over an hour!

Is there any chance I can snorkel at cenote Tajma Ha?

Yes, the cenote Tajma Ha is a great place if your partner or friend is not a diver. It is accessbile very easily and even the light show can be enjoyed by snorkelers, as long as you dare face a bit of darkness due to the cavern covering you and just seeing daylight through tiny holes in the limestone!!

It is rich with little fresh water fishes, like the catfish or the cenote version of the tilapia.

How do I get my Cenote Tajma Ha DVD?

It is very simple to book your Cenote Tajma Ha DVD. You simply need to drop us a message with your date of arrival, what hotel you stay at and also with who are you going to dive! If you want to do the dive with us, no problem, we are at your services.
