Cenotes Diving
ONE of the reasons we decided to make Playa del Carmen our new home is because of the mystical attraction found in the Mayan culture, which is rich and full of mysteries. As scuba divers, wherever we find water, we think: I can dive here!
Imagine your next dive in the freshwater, underground rivers that make up the world famous cenotes or 'dzonots' in Mayan. Crystal clear and cool water, where scuba diving takes on another meaning. And remember to smile at the camera, your friends and familly won't believe you otherwise!
Scuba Video Services can be your cavern or cave private videographer and photographer. Check out the video and thumbnails bellow.

SINCE the 1980s the region of the Yucatan Peninsula has been a playground for numerous speleological experts, explorers and archeologists.
Because it is well-known that ancient Mayans were using the sinkholes, called cenotes, for their freshwater supply and possibly as burial or sacrifial sites, it is of major interest for us to learn and understand how one of the most advanced civilizations in the history of mankind was living.
Today, research and survey projects are still being run under direct supervision by the SEDUMA (Secretaria de Desarollo Urbano y Medio Ambiente) from the Mexican government and the INAH (Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia) with the support of the National Geographic Society.
It is in our interest to know more about the fragile environment and ecosystem of the Yucatan's sinkholes. Dos Ojos, Chac-Mool, Ponderosa, Tajma Ha, Gran Cenote and Calavera are just a few cenotes that are regularly dived and explored by experienced cave divers.
